I want to freestyle (snowboarding)?

Um Im a beginner I guess, Im putting a lot of effort into snowboarding and Im mainly aiming for the freestyling part. I watched tons of videos, I learned the basic stuff like the heelside/toeside slips, falling leaf, bla bla all that nub sht and then I learned S-Turns which I believe are almost perfect after 8 hours of practicing em.

So should I be learning carving next? How can I begin the trick part of snowboarding? Learning to do some land stuff like ollies, manuals, and pivots?
Sorry I meant 8 hours today ;)
And yes I do alright, I barely ever fall and I can make it down good most of the slopes (well beginner slopes and intermediate slopes).

I know you’re eager to get in the park, but you will not do well in the park until you are comfortable on the whole mountain. You will gain control and feel from riding groomers (steep and not steep) and by doing ollies off of rollers and stuff. If you can ride the whole mountain well the park will come naturally.

Well I’d start learning switch early, It’ll be easier to get that going while your new. Then work on Ollies,Butters,Presses,Ollie 180′s. Then start on small lil kickers with rotations once you get the feeling down, Also try some smaller boxes and rails, The growing theme here is start small and work your way up.

However I would definitely look at learning to ride switch, it’ll help you a lot in the long run for freestyle.

you can do tricks whenever you want.

Before i got into the park i made sure i could handle almost anything else the mountain could throw at me.

Idk about the parks you go to but the ones i do are crowded and nothing pisses me off more than a noob who cant control himself enough to stay out of my way when im setting up for something. Im not saying thats you by any means but be wary of that

You got to be able to turn really fast in order to control your speed so you can hit jumps and rails at the appropriate speed. you have to be able to control yourself once you land.

Do whatever you want but people expect a certain level out of you if youre in a park. if you cant land an easy trick onlooker will heckle you alittle but stick with it and youll get it.

my thoughts are if you cant handle medium difficulty black runs you shouldnt be in the park… but thats just me
