Hey, I just got my first snowboard about 1 hour ago and I really want to learn how. I think that it would be cool because I already know how to skateboard, and it is apparently similair and because I can finally go with my friends to the hills. I’ve looked on youtube for tutorials of how to snowboard but it is only things for people how want to learn turns and tricks and stuff. I don’t even know how to stand on the board! Does anyone have any good video tutorials or tips of advice or anything? Oh, btw I am 13 years old and not really strong so please don’t put down tricks – it will take me a while to get there. Thanks in advance!

GET LESSONS!
Go to like a dry ski slope, or a ski resort and get lessons!!!
If you go skiing with your family, go to snowboard school
Honestly the best thing to do if go to a ski centre and have lessons, you cant just learn from someone telling you what to do. Its easier if you have the support of someone helping you down the slope and showing you how to improve
I wish i could snow board but i live in San Antonio Texas the hottest Humid city in the world
during winter cold but no snow what so ever
You have an advantage because you skateboard, but it will take some practice, don’t give up. Plant your feet, bend your knees, and STAY LOW. You say you can go to the hills with your friends, maybe they could help you? Falling is half the fun, it is snow after all… have fun!
Well Amy, I don’t know how good at skating you are, but my first time my friends took me up the lift and made me go down a Diamond without me knowing. If you are a natural at extreme sports you will get the hang of it immediately, usually your first time down. Don’t be afraid. If you are afraid you shouldn’t be up there. My advice is start saving up because snowboard lift tickets are $50 in Wa. state. now they were $33 last years…and Gas and clothes, goggles, food, it all adds up real quick. An average day at the slopes costs me around $150 and I have well over $2000 in gear- 153cm and 160cm Forum snowboards, Electric goggles etc.
I tried to teach my skater friend how to snowboard and it was terrible. apparently they’re nothing alike. Just go into it knowing your going to fall a lot. If your going with friends who know what they’re doing keep in mind that they’re not going to stay on the green hills with you all day. Good luck. I didn’t get the hang of it until my 3rd time.
