Beginner Snowboarding in PA?

I want to go snowboarding in PA. I looked at Shawnee Mountain, Jack Frost Big Boulder, Camelback and Blue Mountain. Any ideas which is the best for first time snowboarders?

Blue Mountain is the best of those. Camelback is a total ripoff this year (they jacked up all their prices and took away a bunch of lift ticket options) otherwise they’re pretty good too, except they’re real crowded. Shawnee just sucks, period.

Blue has the nicest long greens for beginners, they have a beginner park you can cruise through, and it’s the least crowded. Friendlier staff too, I think.

I ride those mountains, and I must say Blue Mountain is the best for learning. They have a nice long gradual run called the Lazy Mile. It would be great to learn on (even thought that’s not where I learned.) Shawnee has a lot of steep terrain at the very base of the mountain (even on the green/easiest runs), so I wouldn’t suggest learning there. Camelback can get pretty crowded on the beginner slopes because a lot of the NYC and Jersey people go there to learn. Jack Frost and Big Boulder are just not as fun to me. Definitely go with Blue Mountain. But when you get better, you definitely need to check out up state NY, Vermont, or outwest. I’ve been doing a lot of riding up in New England this season and I must say, eve if the Poconos are close, they don’t even compare. Best of luck!
